Types of Assessments

In 2012, Karen was designated by the Ministry of the Attorney General’s Capacity Assessment Office to assess legal capacity under the Substitute Decisions Act, 1992. The types of legal capacity assessed under the SDA are managing property, and making personal care decisions (health care, nutrition, shelter, clothing, hygiene, safety).

Karen also completes assessments and provides letters of opinion for other types of legal capacity including granting/revoking a power of attorney, and making or changing a will.

The flat rate for an assessment is $850. Additional charges for travel time and mileage apply.
